Celebrating Our High School Graduates

Each year, United Methodist Women honor high school graduates in June.  Last Sunday, Isaiah Laster and Matthew Vega were honored and were also recipients of the Harriett Strong Wright Scholarship.

The  Scholarship Fund was established by United Methodist Women in memory of Harriett Strong Wright, a faithful Christian educator, a creative public school educator and a strong supporter of United Methodist Women.  She had the gift of an encouraging spirit and thereby helped young people and adults develop into their full potential.

Matthew Vega is the son of Scott and Sarah Vega.  Matthew will attend Wake Tech this fall where he will major in Web Design.  He plans to have a career in web design and to create his own clothing line.  He plans to become more involved with the community in the future with volunteering where he can whether it's playing basketball with young kids or helping the elderly.  Matt also wants to become more involved in the battle for equality between all races and sexes and help tackle other major social issues.
